We at Muktangan believe in education for the community by the community. We are searching for dynamic people to join / lead our unique Muktangan project, set up in early 2003. 

The Muktangan project trains women from low income communities as child-centred, English medium inclusive educators to teach the children from their own communities. The model has been found relevant and practicable not only by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) and others in the field of urban education, but also by many NGOs with rural / tribal educational projects.  We are working in close partnership with the MCGM and some NGOs. The Director of Fund Raising / Public Relations would be responsible for interfacing between ours and other relevant programmes with educationists, other NGOs, interested individuals and potential donors. He / She would be responsible for designing and implementing the fund raising strategy in consultation with the Director, and driving the funding needs of the organisation. The funds needed are Rs. 1 Crore annually for the operations and Rs.4 Crores for adding to the corpus. 

• To raise funds for the organisation’s programme, to coordinate development of proposals and frameworks and manage donor relations, influencing and negotiating with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Identifying fundraising opportunities at local, national and international levels.
• Creating, developing and executing fundraising initiatives.
• Identifying assessing and approach new donors or funding sources and establish relations with existing and potential donors.
• Proposal writing for grants and other public funding.
• Coordinating all funding proposals and reports to donors and to provide senior management with an overview of the same.

• Candidates should have excellent oral and written communication and grant-writing skills.
• Strong marketing and PR capabilities as well as abilities to network and liaise with other organisations, identify potential partners and handle the media.
• Familiarity with government and Indian donors.
• Knowledge of funding issues in relation to voluntary organisations work in development, advocacy and campaigns.
• Ability to conceptualise national frameworks for development programmes and raise funds for the same.
• Finance and strong computer skills.
• Analytical skills and the ability to think strategically with respect to fundraising.
• Ability to lead and listen.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills.
• He/She should be able to develop and implement appropriate financial, administrative and contractual management systems for projects administered by organization.
• Fluency in speaking, writing and reading Hindi and English.
• Strong entrepreneurial skills and creativity .

• Masters in Social Sciences, Development, or related field with minimum 2 years experience Demonstrable experience of fundraising from individuals and proposal writing.
• Experience of raising funds from a range of donors – prior experience of raising funds from bilaterals and other foreign donors is essential.
• Proven ability to handle a projects autonomously.
