  About Training of Trainers Programme (TOT):
Muktangan’s Training of Trainers Programme (TOT) focuses on sharing of Muktangan`s learning’s and successful experiments in providing quality pre and primary education. It aims fostering developmentally appropriate principles / beliefs behind the child centered teaching methodology.

The first batch of TOT comprising of 28 participants representing 20 organizations, from all parts of the country will be complete in November 2009. Muktangan flexible and needs based approach towards training module has been appreciated by the participants.

The 2nd batch of TOT is scheduled to start in December 2009 / January 2010.

 
 
Aim:
To prepare participants to understand the concept of quality education and the systemic changes required to impart the same.
To understand that education is not just getting good grades/ performing well in exams but a movement towards acquiring knowledge and skills.
To understand developmentally appropriate curriculum and the relevance of experiential learning in teaching learning process.
   

Methodology of TOT:
The training workshops are conducted in a participatory manner. The workshops are process oriented and they consider the individual and organizational needs as well. The training modules evolve on the response and interests of the group. Learning is fun in TOT as all the theory components are backed/supported/coupled with stimulating activities. The participants learn by experiencing and witnessing various children centered learning practices followed at Muktangan.

Domains of child development and Principle of learning
Understanding and moving towards concepts like experiential learning and child initiated learning
Understanding developmentally appropriate (age specific) indicators of child development
Role of Adult in strengthening child’s learning
Language and cognitive development
Supporting children in learning 2nd language
Brain based education
Understanding the roles of various stake holders in developing school education
Enhancing training capacities of participants
Understanding significance of quality assessments
Quality education and child development
Outcomes:
The participant organization would be able to initiate a child centered pre school education centers
The participant would have acquired basic understanding on how children learn and the advantages of experiential learning process
The participants would have understood the difference between conventional education and quality education
The participant will have improved their skills in imparting training
The participants will be able to identify the drawbacks in the current education system and the policy level changes required
