The design of Muktangan with its indigenously developed teachers enables the targeted low-income communities to experience a sense of ownership of the educational programme being offered to their children. This leads to a greater desire to participate and experience for themselves the value of what is being offered. The training has succeeded in rekindling the desire in several of our teachers to go ahead and complete their higher education, a goal most of them had long given up on.
