circle of learning

The Muktangan approach enables us to accept all children into the system, even those who have been previously excluded from other systems. In such an open learning environment, all children blossom. The teacher subtly provides them with the learning environment they need in order to become who they can be! The methodology includes the following:

Active Exploration:
Children are encouraged to explore their own ideas in a well-resourced, colourful environment.

Treating each child as an individual:
The child is viewed as an individual capable of making his/ her learning choices. Teachers sit with children on the floor or around tables, encouraging and supporting them as they learn. Learning does not occur through the one-way transfer of information but rather through the continuous two-way sharing of ideas.

Teacher as a guide:
The role of the teacher, here, is not to "teach", but to wait for the moment when the child asks for help. Patient observation on the part of teacher is rewarded with a better understanding of where the child is on his/her own learning journey. Both teachers and students are learners!
