The following points were the result of a small group discussion during the latest training programme, in which the trainees were encouraged to reflect upon the congruency of their own beliefs with those of Muktangan.
Muktangan believes:
In the teacher maintaining a supportive respectful relationship of equality with each and every individual child
In freedom of communication between adult and child
In cooperative learning as opposed to competition
That children learn best through active involvement in developmentally appropriate activities
In supporting the all-round development of each and every child
That children are capable of constructing their own values
That each individual child progresses, although at different rates and in different learning sequences
That parents can support the school in the education of their children
