Our name Muktangan and our logo symbolizes the spirit of the organization. Mukt, freedom in Hindi and Angan, forecourt, signifies freedom within the appropriate space, and the colours green and yellow the naturally energizing process that is learning.

The butterfly in our logo was chosen because, just as an egg grows into a caterpillar, pupa, chrysalis and finally achieves freedom to fly in the adult form, the child’s innate power to gain understanding of the world around, given a conducive environment, will ultimately lead to independent, free thinking.

The sun is the source of all energy- classrooms need to be active energetic places for growth of understanding to occur.

The circle shows how all of us are interconnected and are a potential source of learning for each other. All learning in Muktangan takes place in circles where we interact face to face with one another- the insight of one, be it a child or an adult, becomes the starting point for the further growth of others!
