Our Mission
Through the training of women from low-income communities we are offering low-cost, high quality, inclusive child-centred education, addressing the learning needs of underprivileged children and their families, avoiding the shortcomings of the main stream educational system.

Our Vision
To build up awareness and interest in Muktangan's approach in the national educational system through a structured programme of advocacy to both government and non-governmental agencies.

The Rationale
Our first efforts towards realizing this educational model have been within economically disadvantaged populations, as it is here that the traditional system hits the children the most. The children are coerced into a disempowering unthinking acceptance of the content of the syllabus and textbooks. The negative effects of such a top-down educational system are further compounded by lack of parental guidance and absence of an environment that encourages and supports questioning or critical thinking habits.
