Muktangan was founded by the Paragon Charitable Trust (PCT), and the activity has been spearheaded by Elizabeth Mehta, an accomplished educationist, with decades of experience in school level education, which included extensive work in the interiors of India, designing schools, managing them and the development of more child-centred curricula. She has also conducted classroom-based pedagogical research, and has participated in several international conferences and study tours.
PCT is a trust established in 1966 and is registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act, as well as the Income Tax Act. The Trust's audited accounts are filed regularly with the Charity Commissioner and Income Tax Commissioner of the Government of India.
The Trust possesses and issues exemption certificate under sections 80G and 35AC of the Income Tax Act, whereby 50% and 100% respectively of the donations to the trust are eligible for deduction from the taxable income of donors. |
