“There is subtle learning happening… I don’t feel I’m consciously learning…” one teacher says about her experience of learning at Muktangan.
“We have grown in ways we never expected! While some of us have learnt to handle our anger, for others it has been a lesson in developing patience!”
“Sometimes children make too much noise, I then sit in the office till I’ve calmed down and then return.”
Each day provides the trainees with new challenges as they learn to make puppets, dolls and to saw wood into building bricks. Nutritious snacks are to be made. Budgets have to be prepared, purchases made and proper accounts rendered. During the learning of children’s action songs, not only are they transported back to their own childhood, but their English language skills also improve.
There is much that our teachers get besides the learning that happens in class. It is well-said by one of our teachers, “I didn’t know I had something special inside me….I’ve discovered myself.” |
